Strengthening Liberia’s Diplomatic Capacity
The six-week refresher and orientation program covered core areas of international affairs, including Diplomacy, International Relations, Foreign Policy Formulation, and the Conduct of Global Affairs. Among several other things, the training gave participants practical knowledge and insights while deepening their understanding of Liberia’s foreign policy objectives and priorities.

The Gabriel L. Dennis Foreign Service Institute which operates under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was established in the 1950s and serves as Liberia’s intellectual center for training and research in foreign service. Its mandate is to provide a program conducive to the exchange of ideas on the political underpinnings of global economic relations, cultural diversity, integration, and conflict resolution. FSI’s programs are designed to provide intellectual orientation for Liberian Foreign Service Officers and diplomats, and to give a penetrating insight into continental dynamics and the culture of foreign policy formulation and implementation.
The Gabriel L. Dennis Foreign Service Institute training aims to strengthen Liberia’s diplomatic capacity by equipping policymakers and public servants with the skills needed to effectively represent the country on the global stage.
