Representative Mike Jurry Dedicates MC2 Community Bank in Harper to Boost Financial Services and Economic Growth.

Representative P. Mike Jurry has officially dedicated the newly established MC2 Community Bank in Central Harper, describing the institution as a major milestone in expanding financial services, creating jobs, and promoting economic development in Maryland County.

The dedication ceremony, held at the General Children Playground in Harper, attracted a large gathering of residents, including women's groups, susu clubs, motorcycle unions, traditional chiefs and elders, local government officials, and representatives of Afriland, the organization overseeing the establishment of community banks in Liberia.

Speaking at the event, Representative Jurry said the opening of the community bank marks a new chapter for Maryland County and will help move the county forward through increased access to financial services and employment opportunities. He noted that the bank was established after citizens repeatedly expressed concerns about the difficulties of traveling to Pleebo City to access banking services at International Bank (IB) and Ecobank. According to the lawmaker, Harper, as the capital of Maryland County, deserves a fully functioning financial institution to serve businesses, students, and residents.

Representative Jurry emphasized that the MC2 Community Bank has received all required approvals from the Central Bank of Liberia and is fully authorized to operate. He encouraged residents to consider the bank their own by purchasing shares and supporting its growth. He added that the institution will provide loans to qualified and trustworthy individuals to help expand businesses and improve livelihoods

Francis Morgan, an official responsible for the establishment of community banks in Liberia, confirmed that the MC2 Community Bank has met all operational requirements and is prepared to begin serving the people of Maryland County. Mr. Morgan also disclosed that several graduates of William V. S. Tubman University who studied Banking and Finance recently completed four months of intensive professional training. He said the graduates have been equipped with the necessary banking skills and will be employed at the institution to provide quality services to customers.

Maryland County Superintendent Nathaniel Toe Jr. praised Representative Jurry for fully sponsoring the establishment of the community bank, describing the initiative as a significant investment in the county's future. Superintendent Toe said the bank will make financial services more accessible, especially for students who previously traveled to Pleebo to pay school fees. He highlighted that the institution is equipped with reliable electricity and internet services, ensuring efficient banking operations.

He further encouraged schools across Harper District to open accounts with the community bank, saying the move would promote the institution while reducing the financial and transportation burden on students and parents. Residents, including members of the Christian and Muslim communities, business owners, community members, and motorcycle riders, welcomed the opening of the MC2 Community Bank. They expressed appreciation to Representative Jurry for what they described as a timely initiative that will improve banking access and support economic growth throughout Maryland County.
