Representative P. Mike Jury Officially Dedicates New Culvert / Bridge Linking Three Communities in Harper District

Harper District Representative, Hon. P. Mike Jurry, has officially dedicated a newly constructed bridge connecting the communities of New Kru Town, Bassa, and Hoffman Station, marking the completion of a key infrastructure project aimed at improving transportation and access to essential services.

The bridge, constructed at a cost of more than US$10,000, was completed within the one-month timeframe announced during the groundbreaking ceremony and will now ease movement for thousands of residents across the three communities. Speaking during the dedication ceremony, Representative Jury described the bridge as another fulfillment of his commitment to community development, emphasizing that leadership is measured not only by legislation but also by delivering projects that positively impact people's daily lives.

Hon. Jurry urged residents to take ownership of the bridge by protecting and maintaining it, noting that the structure is a valuable community asset designed to serve both present and future generations. He also commended the contractors for completing the project on schedule and delivering quality work.

The lead contractor of the bridge project Mr. Anto Badawi expressed appreciation to Representative Jury for entrusting his team with the project and thanked members of the three communities for their cooperation throughout the construction process. Badawi said the bridge was built to meet acceptable engineering standards despite the challenging terrain and weather conditions encountered during construction. He encouraged residents to use the facility responsibly and to help preserve it through regular community care and maintenance so it can continue serving generations to come.

Residents, local leaders, and supporters who attended the dedication expressed appreciation for the completion of the long-awaited project, describing it as a major milestone for the area.

For his part, Township Commissioner A TT Nagbe Sonpon noted that the bridge will significantly benefit schoolchildren, traders, farmers, and elderly citizens who previously faced serious challenges crossing between the communities, particularly during the rainy season. He praised Representative Jury for responding to one of the district's longstanding infrastructure needs.

‎Speaking during the dedication ceremony, Development Officer Hon. Fred Bartoe commended Representative Jurry for the initiative and praised his continued investment in infrastructure development across Maryland County. He noted that the lawmaker's ongoing development projects are making meaningful contributions to improving the county's infrastructure and enhancing the livelihoods of citizens.

‎Officer Bartoe also urged residents of the beneficiary communities to make responsible use of the culvert and help protect the structure to ensure its longevity. He reaffirmed the Maryland County Local Government's commitment to supporting community efforts to monitor and preserve the facility for the benefit of present and future generations. The completion of the bridge will now strengthen transportation, commerce, and social interaction among New Kru Town, Bassa, and Hoffman Station while improving access to schools, healthcare facilities, markets, and other essential services.

The project adds to a growing list of development initiatives undertaken by Representative Jury in Maryland County District 1 and is being hailed by residents as a lasting symbol of progress and a significant contribution to the continued development of Harper District.
